Matthew Steaffens (American, b. 1985) is a photographer based in Washington DC & Denver, whose contemporary practice explores themes of connection, relationship, and moments. His images are rooted in the tradition of street photography and photojournalistic projects.
He became interested in fine-art photography after visiting New Orleans in 2010, a compliment to his commercial, portrait and wedding photography which began in 2008. Accolades include Best in Show at Exposed DC’s 17th Annual Show, and All About Photo - Street Edition #36. Most recently his work has been selected as a Special Mention in the Paris International Street Photo Awards, that will be featured at the Xposure Festival in the UAE in March 2024.
Steaffens currently serves as a graphic designer, in Denver, Colorado (USA) where he resides with his wife, Genevieve and two dogs, Jasper and Paisley.
